CONTRIBUTED WORKSHOP PROPOSAL INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Contributed Workshops are designed to share novel and innovative experiences in either the conduct of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research studies or the interpretation and use of pharmacoeconomics outcomes information in health care policy development.
  • A Workshop is comprised of 1 to 4 discussion leaders.
  • Workshop submissions must be organized as follows:
    • Title: Full title of your Workshop
    • Discussion Leaders: Names, degrees, positions and full contact information for the Discussion Leaders. A maximum of four leaders is permitted.
    • Workshop Purpose: A clear definition of the objective of the workshop
    • Workshop Description: Background information on the workshop, including audience participation, should be included
  • Accepted Workshop Proposals are published AS SUBMITTED in the Meeting Program and Schedule of Events.

TOPICS FOR CONTRIBUTED WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

CONTRIBUTED WORKSHOP PROPOSAL

Workshop submissions are accepted on the following TOPICS:

  • Clinical study methodology
  • Cost study methodology
  • Educational Topics
  • Patient reported outcomes including quality of life methodology
  • Preference-based studies methodology including utility studies
  • Formulary development research
  • Health care policy development using outcomes research
  • Risk assessment/risk management
  • Compliance/Persistence
  • Patient registry development
  • Use of Real World Data

Criteris for Evaluation of Contributed Workshops:

Workshop acceptance is based on the quality of the proposal and the topic for discussion. Specific criteria for acceptance are:

  • The workshop purpose(s) are clearly stated.
  • The purpose(s) can be achieved in the 60 minutes allotted for this workshop.
  • The information / issue(s) presented are novel or innovative.
  • The workshop presentation should contain original scientific content and not just report on the routine use of a single instrument or tool.
  • Examples should be drawn from a number of sources and not just the presenter(s)’ own studies.
  • Preference are given to proposals that involve presenters from more than one organization and more than 1 sector
  • The information / issue(s) presented are valuable to the pharmacoeconomic & outcomes researcher or the health care decision-maker.
  • There is an audience interactive element in the workshop.
  • The workshop does NOT appear to be advertising the presenter's company's services or products. [Note: ‘ISPOR recognizes that a primary purpose of workshops is to allow the presenter(s) to demonstrate their competence in a topic or subject area. However, attendees expect a scientific discourse, so it is important that these contributed workshops are not used as a marketing platform for the presenter’s company’s products or services.]

Presentation of Contributed Workshop Proposals:

  • All workshops will be 60 minutes.
  • A minimum of 15 minutes of structured audience participation is required.
  • An LCD projector screen and microphones will be provided.

 




We strongly urge you to compose your proposal initially in your favorite word processor. Check the spelling, and make sure that your proposal, excluding the title and the presenter information, contains no more than 300 words. You will be asked for an e-mail address or alternate contact information for all presenters, and you will not be allowed to complete the proposal submission until you have provided that information. Workshop Review Process and Notification of Discussion Leaders:

  • Contributed Workshop submissions are reviewed by the Workshop Chair(s).
  • Submissions will be evaluated based on topic, relevance to meeting theme and completeness of information presented based on the criteria given above.
  • Authors will be notified no later than February 29, 2008 regarding acceptance and placement in the Meeting Program.
